Has anyone here done any biking around Nantucket? I'm considering a day trip to Nantucket just for the heck of it and would like to know a bit about what's there to see from the seat of a bike - especially roads along the ocean, little-travelled side roads, bike paths (if any) etc. Thanks, Ed

There are some very well maintained bicycle paths from Nantucket town to 'Sconset (on the eastern end of the island), to Madaket (on the western end of the island, and this one's really lovely to ride), and to Surfside (on the southern side of the island). The 'Sconset run is the longest at about seven or eight miles; Madaket's probably five or six, and Surfside is maybe three. You can do all three of them easily on a day trip. /Harry

Or bring your mountain bike as there are lots of nice dirt roads, especially south of the Madaket road and Milestone road to 'Sconset.

I recommend you stay 2 days. The morning ferry is 9:00 and gets in arround noon. Of course, you can fly. The trip from Hyanis is 15 minutes! FL |
