| I just dug out one of my old catalogs from 1986, and Bridgestone had a
model with the Suntour ARX that listed for $319.95, and a model with
Suntour AR that listed for $234.95 I never heard of ARE.

| You are right. ARX is the correct component group. I'm glad to get
some confirmation on the approximate list price of the bike when new.
Thanks again,

| I've asked a few bike stores and they suggest 50% of the new price if
the bike is in good condition. Of courcse most of the bike stores won't
offer to buy your used bike. But I've had good luck selling them on my
own at that price.

IMO, bikes tend to bottom out in value at about 1/3 to 1/2 their
original cost. An $800 bike might be had for $300-$400, and a
$300 bike might be had for $125-$150.

| Thanks again...
The seller wants $200 for the bike, which appears to have a value of
about $150, sooooo, no deal. It's a shame, though. I currently ride a
hybrid; on the "Racing" bike, I was averaging about 4 MPH faster than
the hybrid. Of course, the heart doesn't care what bike you ride, but
my brain sure did 8^)...
I'll keep on the lookout for a nice $500-600 dollar bike.
