2278.0. "Beginner rides" by RANGER::EOS (ingenieur illogique) Fri May 15 1992 14:25
Anyone who is new to the sport might want to make
the trip to West Boylston Sat mornings at 9AM to
ride with Gene Murphy. He really is a wealth of
information ... and he plans his ride so that a
new beginner can just go a few miles while others
can continue. I was fortunate enough to get some
extra time with him last week because it was
drizzling and nobody else showed up. He leant me
a copy of "Street smarts" and took time to look over
my bike with suggestions for improvement, then
gave safety and cadence tips as we rode. He
is an excellent teacher.
Gene is a member of Seven Hills Wheelmen out of
Worcester - see one of the previous notes about family
rides for their list of upcoming events.
I wanted to place this separately under the topic
"beginner" for those who were new to the sport.
Please move this, moderator, if there is a more
appropriate place.
