| What are the actual prices for the 2 bikes?

2221.3 | Go cheap, upgrade if something breaks later | 39675::MJOHNSON | Matt Johnson | Mon Mar 30 1992 10:47 | 6 |
| For all-road riding, I doubt if the price difference is worth it. I
wasn't particularly impressed with the Deore LX components'
performance, anyway -- DX works much better, but it is even more
expensive.

2221.4 | | 52908::PELAZ::MACFADYEN | That's enough of that | Mon Mar 30 1992 11:07 | 9 |
| Is this Cannondale the one with the funny geometry? I saw a review of a
Cannondale hybrid recently which said that the bike was quite unusual. The
top tube was very short, the stem high, and there was a large amount of fork
trail. This all led to a very upright position with the front wheel flopping
about at low speeds. They concluded that the bike was good for posing on a
beachfront, but no good for long rides.

2221.5 | road bike with a triple? | OXNARD::KLEE | Ken Lee | Mon Mar 30 1992 15:17 | 8 |
| If you're riding only on paved roads, you might be better off with a
regular road bike. Some have triple cranks to help you with the hills.
All are faster than hybrids, due to lighter wheels and skinnier tires.
Trek and Specialized (among others) sell good quality road bikes
with triple cranks.

| re: .2
The H400 is on sale for $515. The H600 is on sale for $650.
re: .4
I'd be very interested in reading the review. Do you remember where
you saw it? I believe that the hybrid is basically thier road frame.
I can post the geometry tonight (when I am at home with the catalog.)
I rode it over the weekend and found it very light and steady. I felt
good about the on hills performance. Also, it felt very comfortable to
me. After test riding it, I tried a Miyata hybrid which felt faster
but much less comfortable.
re: -.1
I did think about road bikes, but like the heads up position. I often
ride with my kids. (My 11 year old is up to 15 miles.) And, I pay
particular attention to traffic.
Thanks

2221.7 | TAKE A DRIVE FOR A BARGAIN? | AKOCOA::FULLER | | Mon Mar 30 1992 15:52 | 7 |
| You may wish to call Country Bike and Ski in Barre. Sam Salvadore, the
owner had some 91's, I think you could get the 400 in the mid $400
range.
Not sure of his phone numbe.

2221.9 | Save the money, I guess | AKOCOA::MATUS | PC Manager for GIA | Wed Apr 08 1992 15:22 | 7 |
| Well, I guess the advice is that the Deore LX is NOT worth the extra
money. So, I'll get the H400.
Thanks for the input. (If you have any other thoughts, please let me
know.)
