2166.0. "BICYCLE REPAIR WORKSHOP - WORCESTER MA" by AKOCOA::FULLER () Tue Jan 14 1992 12:31

    On behalf of the Worcester MA based cycling club, Seven Hills Wheelmen,
    I am teaching my third annual bicycle repair workshop. In past years
    I was overfilled, and turned away students. However, this year there
    are openings for 3 more people. Prerequistes for the workshop are
    membership with Seven Hills Wheelmen ($15.00 year) and a huge $10.00
    entry fee (to cover cleaning materials, and a donation to the school)

    It is held on Monday nights, from 6:30 to 9:00 at Worcester Poly Tech.
    I already held the class last night, this should not affect someone who
    is somewhat familiar with bike parts and basic tire changing.

    The class has 15 students +/- and assisted by 4 instructors. Total
    years of biking experience of the instructors total about 80 years.

    If you are interested, please contact me. I will then send you a
    membership application to SHW if you are not a member.

    Those currently SHW members get first shot at attending.

    Geez sounds like what I've been looking for. Would you know if such
    workshop would ever be offered in the Southern NH area?

2166.2RECOMMEND AS AN ACTIVITY TO OTHER CLUBSAKOCOA::FULLERTue Jan 14 1992 13:5912
    This workshop came about because a friend in SHW was formerly president
    of a large club in New Jersey. They successfully ran this for a number
    of years. We agreed, bike clubs should do more that just lead rides
    and time trials. Certainly any club has a number of experts and shop
    owners that are willing to donate some time. (I even have a bike shop
    owner as one of my helpers, he make a few $$ in parts but is basically
    donating his time)

    I suggest to other clubs in the area to do a similar type of progam.
    Its a lot of fun and not too much effort.
