2032.0. "Long Island, New York - on Bikes" by RICKS::NORCROSS (Mitch Norcross, SEG/AFL/Systems) Fri Aug 09 1991 17:01
Hi. My wife and I will be traveling through Long Island, NY
with our car and our bikes. We're looking for a few good
half-day bike loops (and for tips on places to stay, and for
anything else you might care to comment on).
We plan on spending one full day (two nights) on the north fork near
Greenport/Southhold, one full day (two nights) on the south fork near
East Hampton, and one full day (two nights) near Fire Island. We are
open to better suggestions.
Does anyone have bike riding experience in these areas? Are there bike
trails on Fire Island (National Seashore)?
BTW, We are total novices at this sport. Any advice for novices on
this kind of a trip?
I just ordered a copy of "Short Bike Rides on Long Island" from the
publisher: Globe Pequot Press, Old Chester Road, P.O. Box Q, Chester,
CT 06412, Tel. 203-526-9571, $8.95., will arrive next week.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Thanks,
/Mitch
