A friend and I are going to Fly out to Reno to do a week of cycling in the Tahoe / Yosemite regions. Any recommendations about cycling routes, places to camp (or hotel), eats and anything else you can think of would be greatly appreciated. We will be leaving in the middle of August by the way. Thanks, Larry Cohen

"Tahoe/ Yosemite region" describes several thousand square miles. It might help if you could be more specific about your plans. Are you planning to do (paved) roads or trails, or both? Is this a bicycle only trip? Or a combination bicycle and automobile? Yosemite is nice and there are a lot of bikes, but there are many more cars, it will be quite congested. In the national forest in the Sierras camping permits are required, you obtain these from the ranger stations. You will probably need advance reservations to camp in the valley in Yosemite. Bodie is a popular and scenic ghost town, I don't know what it is like for cycling. For cycling in the desert you will need LOTS of water. Barry | |||||

Its too late at this point - but a good suggestion is to use "Thorn Tubes" - extra thick tubes - there are thorns everywhere in Reno area that create lots off flats" |
