1904.1 | MA40's TREATED ME WELL | WMOIS::C_GIROUARD | | Tue Apr 16 1991 08:14 | 5 |
| I've been running them for 3 years for training and the area that
I live in has very bad roads. I've only had to have them trued
twice (approx. 16k+).

1904.3 | Nothing but happy with MAVIC here... | NCADC1::PEREZ | Just one of the 3 remaining samurai! | Sat Apr 20 1991 22:59 | 7 |
| My Cannondale came with Sun Mistral rims. They weren't optimal. I
finally moved my MAVIC MA40s from my Trek and have had no problems
since.
36 spoke 14ga MAVIC MA40s.

| I weigh even more than Dave. I'm at 270 or so.
I use 36-hole Campy Omega Strada rims. I also use 14 gauge
spokes and Shimano 600 hubs.
I rode into a storm drain last year at speed. No damage
to the wheels, although the headset seems to have suffered
some.
Scott (Yeah, I know, lose some more weight)

RE: .4 (270 lbs)
What Scott doesn't mention is that he can change
street lights without a ladder. (6" 5" or so?)

BTW Scott, Lynda bought the Trek. Thanks
for the input.

The Mavic MA40 clinchers are one of their most popular Training Rims
and we don't usually get return on them are building them up for
customers. If you plan to build your own set, I definitely would
recommend Mavic to start off with. They have the reputation to be the
most true out of the box.
I also have a pair of Mavic Open 4 CD and haven't had any problems with
those either.
The only real problem with Mavic is the high cost. I think the weak dollar
has something to do with it but you will see a 25% price increase this
year with Mavic rims.
