suggestions for bike shops. Sorry I cannot verify since the notes link
to ranger is just a bit slow right now...

Hey, Tim-
Glad to see you're going to finally make it to the West Coast. Don't
know about Santa Clara, but there is a Cannondale dealer in Mountain
View less than 5 minutes from the ISV facility (UCS). They're
Pacific Bicycles on Grant (415)961-9142. Don't know what Cannondale
stuff is selling like these days, but you may want to invest in a
transatlantic call and see if they might hold one for you, if the
bikes are selling out like they were a year ago.
Why not stop off in the Rockies on the way home?

| I've heard good things about Shaw's in Santa Clara. Also try Bicycle
Outfitter in Los Altos and Spectrum in Sunnyvale. They're close to
Santa Clara and I've had good experiences with them.

| Try
1. Shaws in Santa Clara 408-246-7881 (talk to Terry Shaw or
John Elgart)
2. Spectrum Bicycles in Sunnyvale 408-737-7333
You may also want to go down to Los Gatos. There is a shop on
University Avenue that is heavily into mt. biking. Its the
headquarters for ROMP, and they will be able to help you on the local
trail riding.
If you want a personal tour guide, you can call Mike "Bat"
Buchanan. He knows of some great trails outside of Cupertino and
Saratoga....single track...redwood forests...good verticles...etc.
408-257-4676
Good Luck.

1860.6 | Thanks for the help. | VOGON::REEVE | Quid custodiet ipsos custodes? | Thu Apr 04 1991 06:40 | 17 |
| I would like to thank everyone for their help in this quest. I visited several
of the stores mentioned here, including Spectrum and Pacific. Those two, to
my mind, were both outstanding in their attention to me as a potential
customer. However, Pacific won out as they were the ones who had both
Specialized and Cannondale. In the end, my heart was won over by the
Cannondale SM700. Altogether, I reckon I saved about 350-400 by importing
the bike myself. Not a bad saving!
Now, if only the weather would brighten up a bit and let me get out on my
new baby. Today, the wind is blowing up to gale force and the rain is
pounding down. Almost like it was in California! Too bad that they decided
to end their 5 year drought during the two weeks that I was there.
Ah well, that's bicycling.
Thanks,
Tim

And I thought that it was us Brits what brought it! What a relief!
Unfortunately, it seems to have followed us back to the U.K., so I've had very
little chance to try out the Cannondale. Any chance you could recall your
friendly clouds?
Thanks,
Tim
