I have a budget of up to 4000FF to spend on a velo de cours / racing bike. The reason I, a married man with two young children, suddenly have such a vast sum to spend on myself, is my upcoming 40th birthday (September). I want Shimano Index shifting and a good stiff frame but what will my money get me that is available in France? And what shops will provide a good range? I'm based in Ferney Voltaire within reach of Chambery, Grenoble, Annecy and Geneva (though I'd rather spend the money in France). Thanks in advance for your help! re .0 Check out Decathlon and Spao. Both have (had?) bikes in that range. However beware when buying from a shop which isnt a bike shop. In particuklar I would rebuild any bike I got from these people back from scratch Re .1 Well it seems that those pills work well Robin, judging by the way you spin up those hills...
