Chip,
Try calling International cycle in Boston. they have a decent
inventory of that kind of stuff and may be a good source.
You just reminded me that ofter 5 years I think its time to replace
the pads on my brakeset. I thought they'd last forever but I gurs I
should'nt complain about five years hug!

1818.2 | Plan ahead... | WLDWST::POLLARD | | Mon Jan 07 1991 19:51 | 7 |
| Do you have a strong preference for OEM pads, or are these
things unique a-la Dyna-drive pedals? If they're non-standard, you may
want to stock up for the years ahead while they are still a current
production item. I once had to track down a Cinelli seatpost binder bolt.
After months of calls to Security, Euro-Asia, Ten Speed Drive, and the
actual importer in Texas, I finally got a few. You don't want to go
through it.

| Geez, I thought people with Delta Brakes had the right-of-way and
never had to use 'em.
Glad I saved my money. %=})

1818.4 | WILL STOCK UP... | WMOIS::C_GIROUARD | | Tue Jan 08 1991 07:44 | 10 |
| Don't worry, as soon as I locate them I'm going for inventory!
They are different than the standard pad and are similar to the
Dura-Ace configuration with one blocked end (squared) and one
rounded end...
Oh well... BTW, Delta owners don't have the right of way, we just
look better while we're waiting to moveon :-)

1818.5 | Shelf life for brake pads?? | ULTRA::WITTENBERG | Uphill, Into the Wind | Tue Jan 08 1991 11:08 | 8 |
| You may not want to stock up too much. I'm told that some brake
pads harden with time, and should be considered to have a shelf
life. Unfortunately, I don't know what the shelf life is, nor
whether this is true for all brake pads. (Or for that matter if it
was just BS from a shop trying to sell me what they had in stock
instead of what I wanted to buy.)

1818.6 | Yet another reason not to buy Campy anymore.... | CIMNET::MJOHNSON | Matt Johnson | Tue Jan 08 1991 13:32 | 10 |
| I've replaced the pads on my deltas with some that are square on
both ends. (What brake do the come from? I don't know.) They're
uglier -- because they jut out of the brake pad slot -- but they work
the same.
BTW: I recently rode Gary Shroyer's Fuso, which has Dura Ace brakes.
They were extremely steady and progressive -- much better than other
sidepulls I've used. If given another chance to buy them, I probably
would have chosen Dura Ace all around, rather than swapping the
brakes for Deltas.

1818.7 | OUCH!!! | WMOIS::C_GIROUARD | | Fri Jan 11 1991 07:43 | 8 |
| OUCH!!!&$%#^%^&(* My brake shoes came in (hard). They were $7.20
each (yup - a piece not a pair). Well, I bought 8 so I should easily
get through this season and the next. But, I'm going to go with
something else after these bite the dust. $30.00 a year for shoes
doesn't do anything for me...

| I find it hard to believe you guys whimpering on about paying $7 for
some brake shoes..
Just read note 1817 - $89 for a poser-computer
Or note 1811 - how much Campag Record gear I bought for Christmas
There is such a thing as perspective ;>)

$30 for brake shoes.

The reason Chip is whimpering is probably because he hasn't finished
paying for the groupo... Hey Chip, who REALLY owns the Merlin??
Citibank Visa? ;-)
I should know, I payed for the C-Record groupo on the already
expensive Merlin BEFORE Xmas... OUCH!! Oh well, after riding the
Merlin, I can see that it was worth it. Haven't tried the Delta brakes
yet... I still have the original brake pads on my old Camy brakes. My
hands are allergic to brake levers ;-)

| Come on guys... I'm really not whimpering. Besides, the C Record
stuff was a Christmas gift last year. You guys really are brutal.
Re; 10 I'm happy to report I hold the mortgage on the Merlin.
I can get brake pads for my car cheaper! <-- Whimpering example...
