1789.1 | Get one of each | CSSE32::SMITH | Reality, just a visible imagination? | Tue Nov 27 1990 16:51 | 10 |
| Hi Greg,
I have one of each ;') I use my road bike for centurys, the odd race, general
weekend road rides and when the daylight is better, evening rides. My ATB sees
action on weekends, expecially in winter months. I hope to pickup a "Beater"
bike for commuting.
One bike is not enough anymore.

1789.2 | Keep the road bike | FROSTY::SCHOTT_R | | Wed Nov 28 1990 09:47 | 8 |
| Here's another recommendation to keep your road bike (if you can
possibly afford to in these recessionary times) when purchasing a
mountain bike. For many people, the thrill of riding off road
eventually diminishes, and they find themselves yearning for the
rush of putting the hammer down and cranking along at 23 MPH on some
rural PAVED road! Mountain bikes are perfect for dirt roads or
inclement weather riding, but come up short if you want to get
someplace fast on the blacktop.

RE: 2
Maybe some of us are not in a hurry to get any place at all. Or on the
other hand have you tried cranking along at 23 MPH on a deer trail.
Now that's a rush.

RE:-2
Or try 35-40 on a downhill that includes some serious air
time.
