You should try a bike on for size before buying it.

The frame size is only part of the fit. Even if it is right
there's a lot of adjustments of seat/bar position that will
affect your comfort. Was the bike properly fitted to you?
Also, if you're used to a 23 and you switch to a 21 it will
certainly seem much smaller, even if it is "right", until you
get used to it.

this seems like a reasonable place to ask a question about fitting. i hear
so much about proper fit and fit kits; what exactly does a fit kit consist
of? can someone like me use a tape measure and some specific instructions
to obtain the same results? I suspect that, as with most things, one can
get 90% of the benefit with the first 10% of the effort. in other words,
can some of you with specific "fit kit" knowledge tell those of us in the
dark what is involved.
reverse of the basenote, i switched from a 21" to a 58cm. it felt big at
first but feels fine now. i suspect i have just gotten used to it. the
human body has a great ability to adjust. i wonder if it could be better
still. maybe i'll ride further and faster if it's fitted correctly. maybe
i won't have to pedal going uphill.
any info? it would certainly help out people like me and the basenoter.

it's probably the most frequently asked question from people
new to cycling.....here is what your fellow digits are riding.
