1597.0. "COMPOSITE WHEEL SOLVENTS..." by WMOIS::C_GIROUARD () Mon Jun 18 1990 09:23

     The question I have is around the solvents people use with a
    composite disk wheel (tubulars, naturally). The first (and
    last) time I mounted the tire I used a "paint thinner" type
    liquid. I was very careful with it and it didn't appear to
    harm the wheel, but it still scares me.

     Any suggestions?

1597.1Epoxy = tough stuffKOOZEE::PAULHUSChris @ MLO6B-2/T13 dtn 223-6871Mon Jun 18 1990 11:235
    	The epoxy used in most composite lay-ups is very tough stuff. If
    you don't flood the composite are with potent stuff, you should be OK.
    (The epoxy is so tough, you have problems getting paint to adhere to
    it. Drop by my place some time and I'll show you some examples.)

1597.2THANK YOU...WMOIS::C_GIROUARDMon Jun 18 1990 12:588
     Thanks Chris. I was just a little nervous sinking that kind of money
    into the wheel and getting up the next morning to find it peeling or
    melting or something...

      Thanks Again,
