1552.0. "GEAR-Up '90, New London, CT" by KOOZEE::PAULHUS (Chris @ MLO6B-2/T13 dtn 223-6871) Mon May 21 1990 13:29

Who is going to GEAR-Up in New London, June 8-10 ? I expect to
be riding with a slow friend most of the weekend, but if the weather is
good Saturday, might like to join a group of DECies for at least the
    beginning of a 50 - 70 miler. - slow Chris

ps. GEAR-Up is a large bicycle rally, headquartered at a college, with
many different rides, workshops, an exhibit, social events, etc. See
other notes in this conference titled GEAR or NEAR for more info on
bicycle rallies. I understand GEAR-Up has well over 1000 registered.

I'll be there. As a matter of fact I'm cycling down June 7th and 8th.
We're leaving from ZK parking lot on June 7. ANyone who is interested is
welcome to join us. The stop over will be at the TIP TOP Inn in Webster.

I say we as I'm stoking a tandem. This is the first time we'll have
it loaded with paniers. WE're planning to do a DOUBLE century June 23
so this will help with our training.

Chris, I think the GSW will have a get together also. Many of them are
staying at the Queens Inn (a B and B) or something named like that.

We're not slow on the tandem, but it'd be fun to connect for atleast
part of a ride!

I am going. Would like to ride down but have to come home sunday
thus need an (auto) ride home to do this.
GEAR actually goes Fri thru Monday (noon), most people I have talked
to thus far are (driving) home Monday.

From talking to Dave Egan (Gear Chairperson), I think it is likely
to be a great event.

1552.3Where there's a will..EQUINE::DANIWed May 23 1990 09:3014
Mike,

Actually I'm cycling down on a tandem and hoping to find a ride back up
here to ZK Sunday or Monday. Tough part is a vehicle to fit the tandem in...
If we can't locate a ride we'll hoof it back in one day ~125 miles.

If you really wanted to cycle down you just might be able to locate a ride back!

As for my tandem problem, originally there was a couple that wanted to ride
the tandem back, but they've since bought their own, and they want to bring
theirs down.

I'll be there. I also just received my events package. Looks like I
will have the same problem as last years GEAR. Too many things to do
in not enough time. A tandem couple and I plan to do a century out to
Long Island (Nautical miles on the ferry will not count). A bicycle
swap meet, mountain bike rodeo and plenty of seminars. To top it off
my dad has a wooden sailboat in Westbrook. I plan on staying on the
boat instead of at the college.

P.S. If there is a female companion in her 20's who would like to go
sailing in the evenings drop me a message.
