1427.0. "Specialized K4 failures" by BLKWDO::HUFFAKER () Sun Feb 18 1990 19:36
I have been experiencing problems with my Specialized touring II k4
tires. The mode of failure is a big chunk out of the tread (1/4 to
3/8" diameter) right down to the kevlar belt. I have had this now on
3 relatively medium mileage tires (500-1000 miles, very little tire
wear visible). I sent cut out sections to Specialized
with a letter and received replacement tires back (with no attached
note, just new tires). Now I have the same failure in one of the
replacement tires. I noted that when I sectioned out the failures
the tread was not attached to the kevlar belt even an inch from the
chunk. I believe I am having delamination failures. I know that a few
years back this was a problem but that it was "fixed". Anyone else
experiencing any problems??
