1348.0. "Replacement Drink Comparisons" by GSFSWS::JSMITH (Support Bike Helmets for Kids) Sat Oct 21 1989 22:07

I copied the following Replacement Drink chart from
an article on page 124 of Outside magazine (Nov '89).

	PRODUCT CARBO % CALORIES	COST($)
	=======		=======     ========    =======

	LEON'S OEM 5 45 .17

	GATORADE 6 50 .25

	BODY FUEL 750 7 70 .34

	EXCEED 7 70 .95

	MAX 10 96 .25

Has anyone tried MAX? Where do you buy it, Health food/
nutrition stores? Looks like a lot of bang for the buck.
Also notice how EXCEED appears to be way out ofline on price/
performance. Glad I switched to Gatorade:-)

I used it a couple of years ago when it first came out. Its popular with the
top XC-ski racers. I don't think it has much in the way of electrolytes, and
from my experience of the past couple of summers, I need the electrolytes, at
least when its very hot. Otherwise, the stuff justs sits in my stomach and
refuses to get processed, leading to dehydration.

I got mine directly from the manufacturer COKE! They had an 800 number. I
also remember it being advertised in the Performance catalog, but I just
looked in the most recent issue and it wasn't there. Oh well.

Somewhat off the subject, but Saturday, on our return
from Newport (yes, we were looking at the hoity-toity
houses), my wife and I stopped at a light behind a
small station wagon that was full of Exceed.

I wonder were the race was? 8-)>
