2 things: Does anyone know of a bike shop in Salem, NH called Babuska's or Buska's or something that sounds like that. Someone mentioned it, but I can't find anything that even sounds like that in the phone book. Can anyone tell me a good route for an overnight bike trip from Nashua, NH. I'm especially looking for routes to/towards Maine. Preferable one that's less than 100 miles each way and the closer to 50/day the better. Thanks much, Dave

Buchika's is right on Route 28 down the road from Leachmere's. They were bringing there ski equipment out the last time I was there and they are cutting 25% off all there Descent Clothing (Even the shorts).

Dave, Try REI for some books on N.H., Mass. and Vermont touring routes. Or you could do one of Ed Fishers day rides which are usually 2 or 3 day routes for everyone else :-) _Jerry

Overnight bike trip from Nashua to Maine? Anywhere in particular in Maine? 50 miles doesn't get you very far into Maine or even allow much of a spread along the border. I rode up there a few weeks ago but came back the same day. Do you want to camp or motel it? Do you want to go over hills or around them? Then again there aren't many hills in that part of NH. Do you want country roads or main roads? ed

No, it doesn't even really have to be in Maine, just that general direction-- I figured east of Nashua is the flattest way to go (my girlfriend doesn't particularly like hills (although neither do I!). See below. > Do you want to camp or motel it? Camp, if it doesn't get too cold! But by this time of year, bed and breakfast (read cheap) may be the way to go. > Do you want to go over hills or around them? Then again there aren't > many hills in that part of NH. What hills? If there are any real big, long ones, I'd like to avoid them. > Do you want country roads or main roads? Main(e) roads are fine, provided there is a decent size shoulder (prefereably) with room for side by side riding (rt. 111, for instance). I would, however like decent scenery (so I guess country roads are better, but not crucial) Thanks for the info! Dave |
