1171.0. "Wideeeee Shoes." by OGWV50::YOSHIKURA () Wed May 17 1989 21:51

I don't have no luck with my shoes ever since I started cycling. I have used
6 kinds of shoes so far, but none of them seem to fit me right. I am one of
those people who wear EE or EEE shoes. Currently, I use Shimano shoes 'cause
the sales man told me they were the widest they had. With them, I still have
sore toe after riding only about 40 miles. Do any people have any suggestions
what kind of shoes I should buy ? I use Look system, and I have once torn
up a pair of Sidi lace shoes. I guess I need a tough pair. My toes need help !

The TIME shoes are supposed to be wide. I haven't tried them so I don't know
for sure. I have very wide feet myself and the only ones that I've found
that fit are the RIVAT Columbia (or columbian, or something like that). They
are excellent shoes, have two beefy velcro straps that go all the way across the
foot, not just down one side. The only problem is that they are expensive,
about $120 bucks.

Of course I'm sure someone out there will let us know where you can get them
mail order for $89.99 )-:

I have EEE FEET TOO! How's it going out there fellow steamroller?

I have the TIME system and the shoe is PLENTY wide and comfy. I've
got 1700 mile on 'em so far without any signs of anything. However,
the catch here is they won't snap into your LOOK system. Expensive
    transition for comfort, your decision.

I have EE to EEE wide feet myself and have tried alot of shoes,
so far the most confortable shoes for me are the BRANCALE 'HAWAII'
model and they are great also around $130, I just say this
past weekend there new shoe called 'NEW HAWAII' and it looks
great. I ride LOOK style system and the work great.
    	Give them a try.

I was looking through the Nashbar catalog and they mention that
the Look ATB shoe runs ride. Since I have wide feet and managed
to miss out on Performance's wide shoes I went down to the outlet
store to see what the shoes are like.

They were wider and they fit pretty well, but the sole was very
flexible, just like a tennis shoe. Since my primary reason for going
with a bike shoe was support I didn't buy the shoe, but you might
    like them.

Don't get the Looks. I picked up a pair, because I have wide feet, and the
price was right -- but Marty's right, the bottom is VERY flexible, enough to
make them useless on rides over 15 miles or so.

My current cleated shoes are Rivats -- these seem to run wide, although I
have to get them a size too long, but they're the closest to a reasonable fit
I've found yet.

I also suggest the Rivats. One of my friends has a pair (he has
10.5 EE - EEE) and on his 3rd year with them. They are wide enough
so that I can step out of them with the velcro done up tight.

They are expensive, but they last and last
