| Ride 'em. Buy the one that feels best. But make sure you're not
getting caught up in the dealer's ploy of offering you several
virtually equivalent products so you get caught up in weighing
the tradeoffs (and forget to consider other options)!

| As much as I like the asthetics (sp?) of the Black Lightning
model, I'd go with the 3.0 because it has the new fork which is
supposed to improve the harshness over the older front end. I
knew they would be doing this soon since I had heard that a lot
of C-Dale racers were outfitting their rigs with Vitus forks
to improve comfort and performance. I have an older SR600 which
is why I'd opt for the Shimano version over the Suntour Black
Lightning....with SIS you can be assured that you will have
Outstanding Shifting. If your in the market for a large frame
check out the used C-Dale for sale a couple of notes back.

1069.3 | We went with the SR500... | MCNALY::JD | JD Doyle | Wed Mar 29 1989 10:20 | 13 |

My wife found a very good deal on last year's SR500 by calling around to
many C-dale dealers. At the time, the 3.0 bikes were scarce, and the deal
she got on the SR500 was well below that of the '89 3.0 quotes. I didn't
see a couple hundred dollar difference between the new bike and last year's
model. The 48cm frame is light enough as is.
The aluminum fork isn't standard is it? If not, how much extra is it?
IMHO, the bikes are pretty similar, I wouldn't pay ALOT more for any one of
them over the others.

Last year I got a great deal on a SR500 with the Shimano 105 group.
After buying a C-dale mountain bike, and saw how well it held up
to some serious thrashing, I decided to go with the C-dale road
bike.
The SR500 is a damn good bike, for the price. I've got no
complaints with the components or frame....It SCREAMS.
Just Do It,

1069.6 | Trade up to a Cannondale | RICKS::SPEAR | MYCROFTXXX | Wed Sep 20 1989 12:59 | 14 |
| I overheard a few people talking about a Cannondale ad seen in the back
of Velonews. They said that Cannondale was offering to sell anyone a new
one of their frames if they sent in an old one, any make, plus $175.
Does anyone out there know anything else about this? I have a 24 Univega
which is too large, and not that good. It would be nice to trade up to
a better frame, with better fit.
What new components would someone have to buy if they switched from a steel
frame? I know the seatpost for the Univega is too narrow for a Cannondale.
How about headsets, or are they included with the frame?
Thanks,
cbs

^^^^^^^^
Any make??? I've heard about sending your damaged C-dale back + 175 for a new
one, but not any make.

I'd like to hear more myself.

| Well I couldn't wait for a reply so I called a local C-dale dealer and YES

I saw the add in VeloNews back in June and contacted a bike shop.
They would do it but weren't thrilled by the idea of taking a $10
frame from a garage sale as a trade in. The price was definitely
higher than $175....if I remember it was more like $275. I didn't
do it and now I wish I had.
