968.0. "Multito on the back wheel" by TALLIS::JBELL (Ceci n'est pas une pipe. |) Thu Jan 19 1989 14:09

I'm trying to mount one of those Sachs-Hurret multito belt-driven
odometers on a Terry bike (small front wheel).

I figure that the way to do it is to put it on the left side of the back
wheel. The problem is that the rear hub bearings stick out a lot farther
than the front ones.

The odometer hasn't been boughten yet. I want to know if anyone has tried it.

(I know that this is the bike-nerd conference so I'm supposed to ask
about the speed-cadence-heartrate-pupil-dilation-chronograph that can
take any size wheel, but this is for a low fuss city commuting bike.)

968.1Not the answer your lookin for...EBDBDA::PLEVAIf it's not broke, don't fix itThu Jan 19 1989 16:1812
Can't answer your question but....... Possibly someone can answer this?

I need a replacement belt for my Sachs-Hurret odometer, where can
one be gotten or what can be used as a good subsistute, (short of
replacing it with one of thoses fancy computer gadgets).

I trid a rubber band but it seems to work its way off every now
    and then.

Also.... with wheel do you use with a 26" tire? (small or large?)

Lost my instructions and can't remember.

It seems to me that the multito will run backwards if you put it
on the left side of a wheel. It's all relative, I would find that
    to be sufficient.

26" wheel. I think you use the bigger one.

I gave away my extra multito drive belts.

To put a multito on a 24" front wheel, use some sandpaper to make
the pulley on the wheel 8% smaller and then use the bigger wheel
    on the multito.

(WARNING: I've changed smaller to bigger and back an forth a few
    times while typing this.)

Thanks for the info on replacement belts.

And thank you all for confirming that I use the larger pulley for
    a 26" wheel....
