Now, while in the winter, bike shops are having a slow season,
there are likely to be sales on.
When it warms up, there will be less of a selection, and
the bike shops will all be more crowded.

| I would look now. A lot of the 89's are in. If you are willing to take
an '88 you may get a good price because the dealers want to get the 88's
out of the shops. It seems to me that Bicycle Alley in Worcester is
having a sale on the Specialized mountain bikes....

| Due to the apparent biaseness towards the Bike Alley in Worcester
by writers to this notesfile, I'd just like to mention that there
are at least 5 very high quality bike shops in the Boston area that
are probably having sales on all kinds of bikes as well.
Briefly:
Bicycle Exchange: Harvard Sq. Cambridge
Bike Nashbar: Needham
International Bicycle Center: Brighton, Newton
Frank's Spoke and Wheel: Framingham, Westborough, Waltham
Plus many others

| My ex-SO (yes, we still talk, believe it or not) recently got a
Vitus-framed bike with Shimano 600 SIS, Mavic MA40 Rims, and nice
tires for $8** at the Bicycle Exchange. Though I'd never buy
an aluminum bike myself (no, we didn't break up over this), I
have to admit that it was a great deal.
