919.0. "WHERE TO STAY FOR VERMONT BIKING??" by CASV02::SALZMANN () Thu Nov 10 1988 12:53

               THIS WEEKEND--BIKING IN VERMONT

HELP!! I'm looking for some good biking in Southern to Central VT.
for this weekend. We're looking to do about 60 miles on Saturday
and possibly a shorter distance on Sunday. I'm not too familiar
with towns in VT. There's a route in John S.Friedins' 25 bicycle
tours in VT.(#9) that runs through Woodstock, Pittsfield, Bridgewater
Corners, and also Bethel. The only problem is, is that the Inns
suggested in the book are closed at this time to get ready for Ski
    Season.
We're not looking for any place(40.anight for 2)
fancy to stay because we'll be biking most of the time.
I called most of the chambers of
Commerces' in those areas--with not much luck. Any suggestions
would help. I did call the Chamber of commerce in Rutland and
got the namesd of several Motels--but we'd prefer to bike in the
    other area I mentioned.

Any and all Suggestions would be greatly appreciated--but
    the info is needed ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!
                Thanks  Janice Salzmann      (CASPRO::SALZMANN)

919.1Wanted: Tips on Ludlow, VT AreaAQUA::ROSTIt's the beat, the beat, the beatThu Jun 01 1989 12:148

I'm going to be hitting book stores looking for a tour book, but
in the meantime, I'd appreciate any info people have about biking
    in the Ludlow, VT area.

My parents have rented a place up there for the summer and we would
like to do some biking while there. We will be carrying kids so short
loops (30 miles) on *relatively* easy terrain is preferable.
