825.0. "Terry Dealers?" by FSLPRD::PCOREY () Tue Aug 16 1988 13:57

    Hi,

    Since the Terry line was recommended as a brand I should
    consider for a women's bike, could someone tell me what
    stores carry them?

    I have called most bike stores in southern N.H. and they
    do not carry Terry line. I would travel to either Mass.
    or N.H..

    Thanks.

    	I've seen Terry mentioned in at least one N.H. bike shop that
    advertises in the Granite State Wheelmen's newsletter. Ed, can
    you provide the lead? In Tyngsboro MA, Category One Cyclegoods
    has sold many Terrys. They are now located at 12 Turnbuckle Lane
    (in Paul's basement) (508) 649-7599 is still the "shop" number.

825.3In Boston...TALLIS::JBELLWot's..Uh the Deal?Tue Aug 16 1988 15:156
	In the Boston area, I know for certain that they can
	be found at Bike Exchange in Harvard Square and at Belmont
	Wheelworks on Trapello Road. I think that International
	Bicycles in Brighton Carries the line as well.

825.5Yeah Terry!PLANET::GABRIELWed Aug 17 1988 09:2213
    I have a Terry and love it. Going a bit out of your way to find
    her bikes is well worth the effort. I am about 5.1 and was never
    comfortable on a bike until I rode a Terry. The bike is really
    designed well for women, (even the brake levers are smaller for
    those 'petite' hands).

    Wheelworks in Belmont definitely carries them and just last
    week had them on sale...(about 100.00 marked off her top of the
    line bike, 50.00 on the others). There might still be room for
    negotiation there if you decide to buy one.

I bought my Terry Precision from Haggets in Concord. I Love it!

I had to do some work to locate my 18" Mt Marcy mountain bike. I found it
at Bicycle Alley in Worcester. THe problem was finding it. I called
Georgena Terry to get the list of shops in my area that she had shipped the
18" Mt Marcy to. Believe it or not L.L. Bean has a unch of Terrys and because
they don't do maintenance the prices are very good. How ever, there's not
a substitute in the world for a friendly bike shop. Haggets in Concord was
not going to be getting any more Mt Marcy's in the year. There is no maitenance
done at Bean's so you'd best know what you want.

    We just bought a Terry for my wife, she thinks it's the greatest thing
    since sliced bread! She is now excited about the idea of cycling, and
    says the Terry is the first bike she has ever been comfortable on. The
    shop is in Tampa, FL, FWIW.

825.10Terry saddlesDANGER::ASKETHWed Feb 01 1995 13:027
ANyone have any idea how much a Terry saddle costs? It really doesn't matter
cause after riding a good portion of the PMC last year in much pain, I'm
*definitely* getting a new saddle. Just curious how much I'm going to have to
spend...

Thanks,
Barb

    I think they're under $40 and perhaps better during the super sale that
    should be held about the end of March at a bike shop near you.

    (ads might be in March ish of Bicycling.)

825.12TRY AVOCET 02 WOMANSSTOWOA::SWFULLERWed Feb 01 1995 13:458
    If you want a nice saddle try Avocet O2 Womans. Leather cover (Terrys
    isn't) and titanium rails. Bit firmer, but my wife likes it on the
    back of the tandem. We got ours at O'neils in Worc.

    I think list is $79, should be able to do better with various club
    discounts.

I assume this is a Terry sale? (as opposed to a shop sale) I don't get
Bicycling so if anyone happens to see notices of this sale could you post it
here? S'pose I could always pick up the March issue too...

I'll keep the Avocet in mind too.

Thanks!

    I should have capitalized it :-) No, Super Sale is an industry wide
    sale that serves as a season kick off for many of the shops in the
    area. It usually oocurs the last week end of MArch and the first week
    end of August. Things like 3 tubes for 6.99, discounts on pumps,
    helmets, saddles, water bottle and many other things. The shops often
    include a lot of stuff that they'd like to Clearance at good mark
    downs. NH Super Sale sites are Goodale's in Nashua and Nault's in
    Manchester. Mass has some, Belmont Wheelworks (??? -- the Peter Mooney
    shop) is one regular.

    The shop pays a fee to be included in the ad and then orders a bunch
    of the stuff to sell.
