I found this info interesting: ****************************** Reprinted w/o permission from Bicycling Magazine, Aug. '88: If cycling were a coporation, stockholders would be smiling. According to the Bicycle Federation of America, 17 million adults cycled regularly (an average of one ride per week) last year, compared to 14 million in '86. In the same period there were also significant increases in the number of commuters (2 million to 2.2 million), competitors (120,000 to 150,000), tourists (750,000 to 850,000), and mountain bikers (2.6 million to 5 million).

It's a shame to see the greatest part of our sport, bicycle touring, has the lowest number of riders. The joys of riding self contained, on your own, are incomparable. Can you think of a better way to spend a vacation than cycling through the Canadian Rockies, the Grand Canyon, Amish Country of Penn., or a Vermont Autumn? steve | |||||

You hit the nail on the head, Steve. I'd like taking my cameras on a weekend bike trip to Vt. or Pa. this fall! Finally, I can do it! |
