Does anyone know where I can get some wool riding shorts? I've pretty much determined that I will have to get them custom made, but I have no idea on where to start finding someone to do it. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanx, -Nancy

I still have a treasured pair of Protogs wool riding shorts, wool leg warmers, and wool arm warmers. They are starting their sixth season this fall, and have been darned more times than I care to enumerate. None of the other wool products I have seen come anywhere close to their quality. I, like you, am seeking new shorts. Protogs has dropped out of sight. A victim of the polypro technology wars I fear. I believe the Protog line originated in New England. Maybe someone from that area could elaborate on whether they are still in business. Please, no comments on the advantages of the new synthetics. | |||||

Protogs has either folded or gotten out of the wool shorts business. Nature Wear on Long Island (frequent exhibitor at NEARs and GEARs) is picking up some of the slack. I get my gloves, King Tuts, etc. from them. But for shorts, give Grace Jones a call. Custom made stuff is great and Jones's prices are reasonable! - Chris |
