697.0. "Where's a Biachi Volpe?" by VAXUUM::TYSZKA () Wed Jun 01 1988 12:29

Does anyone know where I can get the best price for a Biachi Volpe?
I live in Watertown, MA, so the closer the better, but I can easily
pick it up here in the Nashua area if they're available around here.

Why do you want a Volpe? To dust a few mountain bikes near the power
lines, or to bounce over the frost heaves on Francestown Turnpike? Is
    cyclocross making a comeback?

PS - I saw them a few months ago for about $550 at Belmont Wheelworks
and the Bicycle Exchange in Cambridge. I think the price is
pretty standard. Asking over the phone might yield the best
price, if you're certain that's the bike you want.

I called my local bike shop and got a price of $495 for the
Volpe. If your interested, The address is:

    			A.A.Vittorio Cycle
    			Wood Avenue
    			Woonsocket, R.I. 02895
    			(401) 765-3275
    			Ask for Paul (Owner)

If you do decide to buy, tell him I sent you, maybe you'll get
    it for a little less.

Did you get the Volpe (or does anyone else have one). I'm curious what
you think of it. How does it do on the road? I don't expect it to
respond like a racer, but is it comparable to a bike set up for moderate
touring?
