The Moulton bikes are very surprising machines. Sir Alex (I've met him at IHPVA events) has surmounted most of the problems common to small wheeled folding bikes with his inovative machine. Small wheels typically have more rolling resistance and a more severe reaction to sharp bumps in the road (RR tracks, etc). By developing a low rolling resistance special tire and incorporating suspension, his bike is the equal to a typical touring bike. The riding position is good for most men (I believe the seat to handlebar distance is typical of "men's" bikes, not too good for the short torso [ie. females] ). The parts and construction are high quality. If you have a need for a folder, and can afford it, this is THE one to get! - Chris ps. Put a faring on it and you can really fly!

I've heard that it is better than a typical touring bike, that is why I am interested in one. Anyone got a opion on Moulton >,=,< typical touring bike? Jim

An interesting development with Moulton, he does a moutain bike with suspension + small wheels. Looks weird, but has the advantage that it can be taken apart easily. I wonder how it compares with the touring Moulton? John. |
