674.0. "Kevlar frame a good buy?" by LEROUF::WILSON (John in Valbonne, France) Wed May 18 1988 11:12
I have been offered a very good bike second-hand: a bike I never
dreamed I could ever own. It has a Look kevlar frame and a lot of
Campag and other good stuff on it. The whole bike costs about the
same as the frame alone would cost new. Seems like good value.
However, I have always ridden steel (Reynolds) frames, and I am a bit
reluctant to pay what is still a lot of money for a frame I know
nothing about (apart from its being unbelievably light). My frame size
is 59 or 60 cm for racing bikes (just under 24 inches). I know that
Vitus and other Dural (aluminium alloy) frames are said to lack
rigidity, especially on larger frame sizes, and this is why I never
bought one.
Does anyone know if there are any problems with Look or other
composite frames?

I've read articles that say that the Kevlar/composite frames don't
hold up for Hard riding. I guess it depends on your style of riding.
If you stand up alot and "Hammer" it will supposedly get mushy with
time.
Only one way to find out for sure......
