667.0. "Spring Fever Weekend Ride -- Partners Wanted" by BRMUDA::MJOHNSON (To code is human; to hack, sublime) Fri May 13 1988 12:11

The (finally) beautiful New England weather of the past two days
has filled me with wanderlust. I'm anxious to get out of the
city this weekend and go for a nice long ride.

I'm targetting someplace in a 100-mile arc around Boston: Northern
Connecticut, Western Mass., Southern Vermont, or Central New Hampshire
as my starting place. I'd like to ride between 45 and 90 miles
at a reasonably fast training pace (18-21 mph).

If you're interested in doing something like this this weekend,
send me mail. I'm willing to go it alone, but I also think it
would be fun to run into a couple of you people after conversing
online so long. Saturday or Sunday would be fine; it's supposed
to rain Saturday morning, but clear up by noon. (Do you trust
    New England weathermen?)

MATT,

The Granite State Wheelmen have their usual Saturday Century tomorrow.
Leaves the Sheraton Tara at 8am heading for the NH seacoast, then returning to
the Tara. There won't be many (just 2?), but I'll be there fer sure. I plan
on sub 6 hrs with a short break at 60m. By all means, come up an join us.

This conference is a great way to schedule pick-up rides --
I'd recommend this approach to others.

I ended up heading out with Phil Johnson and three other guys
on a fifty-mile ride that included a jaunt up to the top of Mt.
Wachusett. It was just what I needed!

I concur with you, Matt. The notes file is a great way to schedule
rides. Especially since you let me suck your wheel all the way
through Princeton and Sterling. The two Tolly Ales you gave me
at the end was the icing on the cake. What a great ride!
