644.1 | What a great idea, who suggested this? | JETSAM::HANAUER | Mike... Bicycle~to~Ice~Cream | Tue May 03 1988 13:59 | 9 |
| This is probably obvious, but I am interested. Lean toward after
work rides and icecream and food after.
I work at Parker Street, the parking lot here might be a reasonable
starting place.
I'd be willing to map some of the rides.

644.2 | yes for Lunch Rides | EUCLID::PAULHUS | Chris @ MLO 8-3/T13 dtn 223-6871 | Wed May 04 1988 11:49 | 5 |
| I did lunch rides from the Stow Shopping Center years ago when
a friend worked at DTS. There's lots of nice roads in the area!
I'd be interested in lunch rides, any day but Wednesday. I don't
bring my bike in normally, so we'd have to schedule it. - Chris

either is a good starting place for me.

| Try posting notices up in the shower rooms of the facilities
that your interested in pooling. We did this in MKO and found that
allot of the lunchtime runners were also part time bikers, and liked
the opportunity to cross train occasionally. Good Luck and maybe
we can get our groups together on a popular Century ride near the
end of the year. Possibly The Flattest Century In The East (TFCITE)
which would probabily appeal to the majority here in MKO.

Here's the schedule for the next "few" Show-and-Go rides for
1988:
Day/Date: Site:
Monday, May 2 HLOx
Tuesday, May 10 LTN1
Wednesday, May 18 MRO1
Thursday, May 26 OGO
Tuesday, May 31 ZKO1 \ D-o-W switched to
Monday, June 6 HLOx / avoid Memorial Day
Wednesday, June 15 LTN1
Thursday, June 23 MRO1
Monday, June 27 OGO
Tuesday, July 5 ZKO1
Wednesday, July 13 HLOx
Thursday, July 21 LTN1
Monday, July 25 MRO1
Tuesday, August 2 OGO
Wednesday, August 10 ZKO1
Thursday, August 18 HLOx
Monday, August 22 LTN1
Tuesday, August 30 MRO1
Wednesday, September 7 OGO
Thursday, September 15 ZKO1
Monday, September 19 HLOx
Tuesday, September 27 LTN1
Wednesday, October 5 MRO1
Thursday, October 13 OGO
Monday, October 17 ZKO1
Tuesday, October 25 HLOx
The sites' locations are:
ZKO1: Spitbrook Road, (South) Nashua, NH. Spitbrook Road exit
is Exit 1 in New Hampshire on U. S. Route 3 (just over the
Mass. border). Left at the end of the ramp onto Spitbrook
to the road on the right with the Sheraton Tara on it
(Tara Blvd.; traffic signal). Follow it around back until
you see the DEC-like signs and buildings. Look for cyclists.
HLOx: The connector that goes between I-495 at the I-290
interchange and Route 85 continues straight after crossing
Route 85, leading into the DEC site. Cyclists usually
mill (excuse me) around the main entrance to the concrete
(not brick) building or circle the parking lots.
MRO1: Southwest of the Route 20 exit of I-495. Take the Route
20 West exit and go west on Route 20 to the second (?) traffic
light (with a left-turn signal and a left-turn lane; Ames
Street). Follow Ames until it crosses Forest Street. (Ames
has a stop sign.) Turn left on Forest, go over a hill,
and turn into the Digital entrance on the right.
LTN1: Southeast of the (cloverleaf) interchange of Mass. Route 2
and I-495. Go WEST on Route 2 from the cloverleaf and get
off immediately AFTER the ON-RAMP from I-495 SOUTHBOUND at
the Taylor Street Exit. At the end of the ramp, go RIGHT
on Taylor Street, pass over Route 2, then I-495, climbing
a hill with construction on the right. After the I-495
bridge, on the left are a storage facility and a lone house
with recent (unpainted) addition. Turn LEFT at the next side
street (Foster Street; barely readable sign) and go to the
second DEC site in the left, downhill from the first. (The
first is LTN2.)
OGO: On a side road (Old Bolton Road) that meets Route 117 at an
acute angle just east of the Bolton-Stow line. (It's a
sharp RIGHT turn if you're heading east on 117.) There's
(possibly) a small red-white-and-black Digital sign
and a "traffic officer on duty when flashing" sign/light
on Route 117 near the turn. Since the side road meets 117
at such a steep angle, there is a short connecting road for
eastbound traffic on 117 to use for the turn. According to
a map I found, Old Bolton Road also meets Route 117 just on
the Bolton side of the Bolton-Stow line, though, since DEC
is near the east end of the street, and the condition of the
road is probably worse than that of Route 117, it's probably
worth taking the more eastern turn.

ZKO1: Spitbrook Road, (South) Nashua, NH. Spitbrook Road exit
is Exit 1 in New Hampshire on U. S. Route 3 (just over the

you see the DEC-like signs and buildings. Look for cyclists.
When you take the right at the Tara Blvd traffic signal, go straight
at the next light which is on Tara Blvd. (If you eye wanders a little
you might be tempted to take another right to the wrong digital site
-- TTB).
