Exercise Bikes I was in Goodales Bike Shop, in Nashua, the other day and noticed their exercise bikes. They have a Panasonic Pana-Plus that you pedal and exercise your upper body at the same time. It even had a heart monitor to record your pulse rate. It had other monitors that displayed your work load, speed, and distance. It had an adjustment on the hand grip to easily let you adjust your pedal tension. I was so impressed with the bike and its quality that I thought someone might be interested. It was priced somewhere around $600 - $650. Quite the machine! don

527.1 | Lifecycles are the best! | SYSENG::BITTLE | Tue Feb 28 1989 21:37 | 16
I use a Lifecycle where I work out and am very interested in purchasing an exercise bike for home use. The feature the Lifecycle has over most all other exercise bikes (actually all that I know of) is that the resistance changes automatically (simulating hills). In addition, it is relatively quiet. However, these machines are big $$ !! The Lifecycle 6000 (the one sold for home use) retails for $1598. I just saw an ad in American Health for a CA company which advertises 42 months of paying $39/month with 0% down and 0% financing, including delivery to your home. Has anyone heard of better prices or someone selling a used one? thanks, nancy b.

Just a thought, you might try to contact some of your local health clubs to see if they are getting rid of one. Since I have been looking into joining a new health spa, I've been noticing a trend towards Biocycles over Lifecycles.

If you're considering paying out big bucks for an exercise bike, then I'd suggest that you check out the Schwinn Velodyne before you buy the Lifecycle. You use your own bike with the Velodyne (like on a windtrainer), and I believe it's the closest thing to actually riding outside. I've been on both Lifecycle & Velodyne, and the Velodyne is superior in many ways (my opinion!). The cost is about the same as a Lifecycle. Schwinn dealers should carry them. I've been on the one at Chelmsford Cyclery in Chelmsford MA. |
