| Re PS - if I had one I would! Is a Falcon K2 an ATB? If you're getting
a new one, what are you doing with that?

Re .-1
Based on bike reviews, and my perception of the quality of components, I
think $550 is a pretty good price. It's at least comparable to other
bikes of similar quality, if not *less* expensive.

Rod - A Falcon K2 is an ATB which is available widely in this country
from stockist like Bike UK, it retails for about #400 at the
moment I think. I will probably sell it when (if ??) I get
a new one...........
Re 2/3
Thanks I appreciate the info. - happy mountain biking, keep your
front wheel off the ground...

| Paul-I bought a HOO-KOO-E-KOO about 3 weeks ago after riding a Schwinn
High-Sierra for 1.5 years.Retail here in Atlanta was $595 at the
only Fisher dealer. They threw on a pair of Ground Controls and I
rode out for $600 + tax. I do a lot of riding on washed out fire/jeep
roads and power lines aeap Taiwan pedals with Suntour X-C ovalstions!
Bio-pace,click shift,salsa type stem,U-brake-all perform flawlessly.
I replaced the cheap taiwaniiwiann and clips,
and the only problem after 150 miles or so was keeping the headset
tight. A little LOC-TITE and a torque wrench solved that.
I could talk all day-but I'm not much on typing. Please contact
me if you would like to talk about this exciting bike which is a
steal at $600.

| A couple of notes for those looking for any mountain bike:
1. 99% of the imported ATB's come with 1.5" tires. The reason is
2" tires increase the import tax by $50.00. If off road
is your reason for purchasing an ATB, change the tires immediately,
as note 487.5 did. Specialized Ground Control, Fisher Fattrax,
and Ritchey Force are all excellent tires. 2" tires such as
these will help your control off-road, be less bone jarring,
and help prevent rim damage.
2. Test ride a few before puchasing. The industry trend is towards
more aggressive frame designs which are great, provided that
you can handle these quicker frames on rocky downhills.
3. If you are a heavy rider, I recommend that the rear hub is either
a solid axle or top quality quick release such as Deore XT.
