482.0. "The Complete Cyclist: not so complete" by LUDWIG::DESHARNAIS () Fri Oct 09 1987 13:12
A few months ago, I ordered the video tape "The Complete Cyclist"
by Connie Carpenter Phinney and Davis Phinney. This tape was
presented by Cannondale and is advertised in most cycling mags.
As a humble amateur critic, I have to give this video a definite
THUMBS DOWN! It should have been titled "The Basic Cyclist", as
it didn't contain nearly the level of information I had hoped to
find. Most of the topics were quickly skimmed over.
Some of the topics I would have liked to have seen include tire
sizes and types, gear ratios, peddling techniques, etc. Suprisingly
the two honorable cyclists did most of the riding seens without
wearing helmets!
However, on a good note, the tape was of good quality, did have some
interesting information such as diet, hill climbing, hill decents,
recommended training schedules, stretching.
Anybody else seen it?
Regards,
Denis
