In a recent issue of BICYCLE they had Ben Serotta's team
issue Tour de France bike. It was equiped with Dura-Ace componets
which confuses me because on his top of the line bike "Colorado"
he has Record C. I haven't had the pleasure of riding with these
componets but hopefully soon. The question is, is Dura-Ace more
durable then Campy Record C or is it more suited for the type
of race that the Tour de France is.

What goes on a Tour de France bike has more to do with sponsorship
than with durability, price-performance, or anything else.

Good point (reply 1). Those guys are paid to use equipment.
Personally, if given a choice, I would take Campy Record C. The
group costs about $1 grand however, which makes it a nice thought,
but not a reality.

| 394.3 | crankset failure | ROCK::JOHNK | Fri Jul 17 1987 09:48 | 8 | |
I've had a DURA-ACE crankset for about 2 years. Seemed to be good
qualitiy. Left crank arm metal failed abruptly near crank bolt.
Exciting times... Anybody else have experience with this type
of failures???

re .1
You are talking about two of the best gruppos around. Very few
rides can really take advantage of such high quality components.
