BUYING HELP NEEDED BY NOVICE
I am new to the bicycle world. The only time I did some bicycling
was back in India (only a 3-speed bike) usually for roaming around.
I just joined Digital and moved in to the Nashua area and I am
planning to buy a bike, primarily for, weekends road trips (if I
can catch hold of these in the Notes files) and may be weekday
evenings (3-4 miles, twice a week). My price range is
$250-300 for the bike and $50-75 for other equipment (shorts, bottle,
etc.). I went through other Notes files but I think now I am more
confused about it. Could anyone sprinkle some advice and give
suggestions for what to look for, where to buy, etc.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanx in advance :-)

371.1Goodale's GoodguysCOGITO::MCDONALDTue Jun 30 1987 21:5312
If you are in the Nashua area I heartily recommend seeing the guys
at Goodale's Bike Shop on Main Street. The shop has been established
for a century or so and the people are extremely helpful and more
than willing to steer the new buyer in the right direction. I have
never had the buy-the-expensive-one treatment here and I always
go to them first. They even sponsor a racing team and have regular
tuesday night group rides. Anyone is invited on the group rides.

They will fit you with the best for you in your price range, I
    guarantee it! Best o'luck!

I heartily agree with MAC's endorsement of Goodale's. I've bought 3 bikes
there and know of many more satisfied customers.
