342.1 | Why drive to Ohio? | ULTRA::SEIDEN | 2 outs, 2 strikes, 2 run lead... | Wed Jun 17 1987 18:48 | 5 |
| The Nashbar Outlet store is due to open at the end of July.
It will be located in Needham, MA. Let's hope it's worth the
trip because as of its opening, all Mass. residents will be paying
sales tax on Nashbar items, purchased retail or catalog.

342.2 | I drove to Ohio | RICKS::SPEAR | The Culture Penguin | Mon Aug 03 1987 09:15 | 18 |
| I dropped by the store on Saturday, 7/31, and it looked very well stocked.
I said "looked" as they did not have a building permit, and could not open
their store to the public. They were even turned down for a sidewalk sale
permit. They did hand out nice Specialized water bottles to anyone who showed
up, "for your trouble." Call before heading down unless you live in the area
and just want a free water bottle.
The place is very easy to get to. Here are the directions from the north.
Take Rt. 128 south to Highland Ave, one exit south of Rt. 9. Take the second
exit - 48A (not B) for Highland Ave east. After crossing over Rt. 128, take
your first left, which comes up quickly. Wave at the AAA building on the
right, and the Nashbar building will be 1/2 block down on your left. If
Nashbar is closed or somehow you escaped with a few $$$ left in you pocket,
U-DO-IT Electronics is just another block down.
The person handing out bottles said that the store will be stocked with
everything in the catalog - good news for us, bad news for other bike shops.
Hopefully Nashbar Boston won't backorder as much as the mail order outfit.

| They're open now!! - August 3. I went by today after calling their
catalog number to check. Sure is easy to drop some bucks.
Building inspector held them up for two days. They were doing a lively
business today though, so hopefully they didn't lose much...

Does that mean that, once again, Nashbar does not have to charge
sales tax on Massachusetts mail orders?
