    Or,

Have you been riding in the rain with your old leather shoes and
now are riding them dried? Leather does shrink as well as stretch...

If you ever figure out what causes it, let me know. The same thing happens to
me. The funny thing is, it's just my left toes that bother me.

There are only two things I can think of that I've been doing
differently: I've strapped my toestraps a little tighter (but in the
past when I did this, my feet complained about the pressure long before
they began to tingle), and I've started climbing with more of a TT
style (sit back on the seat, PUSH, and PULL) for more speed. The
tighter toe straps are really a prerequisite for the climbing style - I
just rip my feet right out of them unless I strap in snugly.

Maybe it's time for step-in pedals...

re .5	Its time for step in pedals if you're willing to give
up the ability to walk like a human being. If you're into racing
its time for step in pedals; if you're into gadgets for their own
sake, its time for step in pedals; etc. If you just want more
strap holding power without a great deal of pressure around the
foot then go for double straps, super-dooper ones at the back and
good ole Christophe's (sp ?) at the front. If you rip out of double
straps you are probably riding too high a gear with too much force,
    shift down and spin.

    Try these:

    1) Shoes too tight
    2) Toeclips too short
    3) Shorts too tight
    4) Something about seat or posture that interferes with circulation

Tingling is a nerve sensation usually caused by restricted blood
    circulation, pressure, or vibration.

320.8Sounds like my sciatic problemSSDEVO::HOFFMANBrian Hoffman, Storage subsystemsThu May 21 1987 15:185
A change in seat position, posture, or pedaling technique could
cause pinching of the sciatic nerve (lower back), which might
show up as tingling toes on just one foot -- not unlike a slipped disk.
Maybe the new pedaling technique is causing your upper body to move
    from side to side?
320.9Something you may wish to tryAKOV03::FULLERWed May 27 1987 13:5611
I've had similar problems at times and recommend the following:

    1. After riding for a few miles (after warmup before race) re-tie
    your shoes.

    2. I have found that slightly thicker socks cushion the foot better,
especially poly or thermax socks. Whenever I wear thin cotton socks
my feet seems to bother me.
