297.0. "Aerolite Pedal Feedback?" by PRTHOS::NBLIAMPTIS () Fri May 01 1987 13:15

         Does anyone have experience with the Aerolite cleat system?
         It seems its only drawback is ease of adjustment, but after getting
    Fit-Kitted you probably don't want to change the adjustment. (right?)
         The advantages are its weight and cost.

297.1I use looks but ...NOVA::FISHERMon May 04 1987 05:498
    While on a ride in Raleigh, NC, last month, I asked Shelby
    Hayden-Clifton what se thought of Aero lites and got "ok's" and
    one other comment. (Other comment from Tom, whom she was riding with.)
    After a quite a bit of use the cleat tends to slide outward along
    the "pedal" because of some wear on the part of the cleat that's
    supposed to prevent such sliding. He said he epoxied something
    and it does not happen anymore -- the easy on-off still works fine
    however, he did not glue the shoe to the pedal.
297.2Ya can't walk in 'emEUCLID::PAULHUSChris @ MLO 8-3/T13 dtn 223-6871Mon May 04 1987 13:147
    	Do not plan on walking with aerolights on, any distance! The
    Look cleats have a bottom surface that is better than conventional
    cleats to walk on. The aerolights are fragile tubular gizmos that
    stick out farther than regular cleats. Suitable for riding, only!
    	I've tried the look sport (the white ones) and also the ATB
    style (the black & yellow plastic non-adjustables) and like each
    one.  - Chris

    I suggest taking a Fit-kit adjustment (and any other biking advice)
    as a guideline only. A Fit-kit setup is something good to try.

    Be open to the possibility however that it is not right for you.
    (Like if you have knee pain, or lower back tiredness, etc.)

    Is the Aerolite cleat system harsher on knees and/or lower backs
    due to its allowing less foot rotation, or is that a general cleat

	I know of no cleat system, including conventional cleats, that
	are designed to allow for foot rotation.

It seems to me the keeping the foot from rotating makes things EASIER on
you, especially the knees. As far as I'm concerned, this is a FEATURE
(not a bug!) in the cleat systems I've seen. not familiar with the
Aerolite, though.
