I'm not signed up but a buddy of mine lives in Davenport, Iowa and is signed up to go. If you run into a guy named Perri, ask him if he's ever been called: 'The Nod', or if he used to own a vehicle called: 'The Titanic'. If he says yes that's you man and a real good guy... Have fun. Ben.

Perri's last name is Schnier. He'll be riding with other Davenport folks named Andy and probably Rhonda Steffenmeisser( last name ?). Andy's last name I don't recall. I've been on a similar trip and found I ended up riding with LOTS of different people. There are so many people to talk to... I believe 1500 people ride on the IOWA trip. Enjoy!! Ben.
264.5 | 10,000?? 5 Boro Ride gets 18,000 | ULTRA::WITTENBERG | Tue May 12 1987 11:55 | 14
re .-1: The Five Boro Tour of New York (held in late April) had 18,000 riders in it 2 years ago, and probably hasn't gotten any smaller. It's a 35 mile or so tour of the city. The amazing thing is watching this orange sea preceede you. (They hand out orange reflective vests to everyone) The route is something like: Start at Battery Park, go up 6th Avenue, through Central Park, farther north on I don't remember which ave., cross briefly into the Bronx, go south on the FDR drive to the Queensboro bridge, to a few local streets, to the BQE south to the Verrazano narrows bridge (the steepest hill on the whole ride), and a free ride on the Staten Island ferry home --David |
