Subject: There is justice!!!

Just thought I'd pass this one along to everyone in rec.bicycles.
Here is the story. Last year I was out on a training ride with a few
teammates. We had just finished a long interval and were in the recovery
stage. While in a residential area, a BIG dog (doberman) came running
out of a yard after us. Being the last person in the paceline, I did
my duty and hit this dog over the head with my Zefal (one of the metal
ones). Dog gets laid out cold.
Anyway, the dog owners followed us, got my name and decided to sue me
for $200 for vet bills. %*$^ this, I said, and promptly countersued for
the dent in my pump.
Case went to court last Friday (03/13). Here's how it went:
Judge: "Was your dog on a leash?"
dog owner: "No."
Judge: "Was the defendent on your property at any time?"
dog owner: "No"
Judge: "Plaintiff's suit is dismissed."
I guess there IS justice. I got $35 for my pump and $30 for court
costs. Bicyclist 1, dog 0, dog owner -$$$$$.

239.1 | assault w/ deadly weapon | GRAMPS::BENOIT | | Mon Mar 23 1987 11:57 | 5 |
| I like it. Only, my Zefal only cost $11.95. If it ever happened
to me, I think I would have a case for "assault with a deadly weapon"
against the owner as I consider a BIG dog a deadly weapon.

A friend of mine used to have a lot of trouble with the neighborhood
dogs. He decided to bring along an extra water bottle for awhile,
and filled it with diluted ammonia. Once a dog gets a shot of that
in the face, he undergoes additude adjustment immediately. One
shot usually cures him for a lifetime.
As for the owners.......diluting is not neccessary.
Adam.
