238.0. "Lock Lookup Lockup" by ISBG::MILLER (Marketing, the oldest profession) Fri Mar 20 1987 08:52
Having just bought another bike, I am thinking about buying equipment to
make it heavier, such as waterbottle cages, racks, lights, horns, pumps,
tool kits, and...the subject of this note...locks.
I have a citadel lock, with one of those bulky,
cumbersome-to-carry-on-a-key-chain keys. I sure would like to have several
locks, one for each bike, and only one key.
"Call up the Citadel folks, and get a lock made with tumblers set to match
the other lock", you say.
" I tried, but Citadel is in Stoughton, and there is no phone listing",
I say.
Is there another city they are in, or is there a different name for the
company, or are they out of business? Anyone know?

Errr, Ummm, ....., Well, if you *REALLY* think someone is likely
to steal it..... Dunno how the average bike thief would
get along with one o them thar contra_punt_tandies; shoulder it
and run ? or tuck it into the back of a VW ? or ?????? And
there can't be *THAT* much of a demand for them on the bike black
market, can there ?

| It seems that citadel is now distributed by Rhode Gear.
The number is (401)-941-1700. (I read it off of the citadel box in
the bike store.)

| For "parking at work", or other regular places the most effective
solution seems to be a *BIG* motorcycle lock that you leave on the
rack at night (unless you work nightshift, in which case, oh, never
mind...). Anyway, about $60 at your friendly M/C shop, Lycra shorts
*NOT* recommended for shopping at Nat Sheldon's.
