221.1 | Why were you sold the wrong size? | BOOKIE::WIEGLER | | Fri Feb 27 1987 15:32 | 7 |
| I think that if you bought your bike new from a bike shop and they
sold you the wrong size, the salesman should be hung from his thumbs
and beaten with rusty spokes (sounds severe, but kinky).
Anyway, when you spend big bucks on a bike, I think you should be
able to expect that the salesman be knowledgable enough to fit the
bike properly to you. What's the story behind your purchase?
Where did you buy?

221.2 | A Shimano fan... | GRUNT::KLASMAN | | Mon Mar 02 1987 12:44 | 7 |
| What don't you like about the components on the 87 Ironman? The
low end model has Shimano 105, the high end model, Shimano 600.
I've got the 600 group on my Fuji, and I've tried, to a limited
degree, the 105 group, and like them both.

221.3 | 87 Ironman w/ Shimano 600 ? | LEELA::MYEE | There's a light that never goes out... | Mon Mar 02 1987 12:51 | 9 |

That's new news to me... I thought the 87 Ironman only came with
the Shimano 105's. How much is the 'high' end Ironman (with Shimano
600) ??
thanks,

| I don't exactly remember which is which, but there's a 'Master'
and an 'Expert' model. The one with the 105 group is about $530,
and the one with the 600 group is about $100 more. Goodale's in
Nashua NH, and Wheelworks in Belmont, Ma both carry the Ironman
models.

221.5 | So, what about the 1988 models then... | LAIDBK::PFLUEGER | over Macho Grande?! No, I'll never get over... | Thu Aug 11 1988 04:34 | 18 |
| Hello friends and fellow riders,
I wanted to reopen this note about the Centurion Ironman bicycle.
I went to a sale tonite that has the '88 Centurion Expert on sale
for $499 [they list at $623].
The bike has the Shimano 105 components, Araya 700c rims, Biospace Chainring,
and Shimano XLR brakes.
My question is, is this a good price or have you seen better? They have quite
a large selection of Experts' available, and the sale is on through this
sunday. I'd appreciate any thoughts you might have...
P.S. I'm just going to be using it as a fitness training and sport bike if
this might help...

221.6 | Take them all for a ride | XCELR8::DELORIEA | | Thu Aug 11 1988 10:19 | 14 |
| I have a last years Centurion Le Mans I believe its the same frame
as the Expert just cheaper components. Comments; the frame is a
good all around frame its angles are not too steep but not touring
either. This you'll enjoy when going down steep hills. It is stiff
enough to be fast but not so bad as to shake you to death. The 105
group is a good group I've used it and I couldn't find any faults.
The Shimano brake sets I think are the best for the money. Araya
rims are on my bike and held up very well (over 1200 miles without
any problems.) I suppose the credit goes to who built the wheels
for the bike. The price $499, is a good price. Take a ride on the
Expert then take out a few more bikes in that price range, that will
help make the choice.
