If anyone is interrested in Nashbar bicycles, I just got my spring '87 catalog, and there are some real buys. All their new bikes are equipped with Accushift by Sun Tour which I didn't really want. I hade my heart set on the Road MK III which no is longer offered. But on page 8, all their '86 modles were reduced for clearance. The MK III was down to $319, from $379 in their winter catalog, down from $474 in their summer catalog. I called, and guess what. The 23" MK III was further reduced to $279. The other frame sizes were still at $319. Other models were available at reduced rates, but the MK III is the best buy. It is basically a fast Japanese road bike. The 23" weighs is at about 22.0 lbs. It has 12-speed Sun Tour Cyclone MKIII drivetrain and brake set. It also has a dog-pump. Call them to see if they have other unadvertised price reductions.

217.1 | TOUR XC ON SALE, TOO. | JACUZI::DESHARNAIS | Wed Feb 25 1987 19:45 | 11
I called Nashbar today for a price on their Tour XC, which is a loaded touring bike. It is marked down from $445 to $365. I am waiting for their catalog to study before I order one. This months issue of Bicycling has a buyers guide to most of the racing, touring and ATB's. The Tour XC seems to have many features of the more expensive bikes. I'll probably be ordering one within the next few weeks. Denis
217.2 | NASHBAR MK III | VINO::HAUDEL | Thu Feb 26 1987 12:45 | 4
I called Nashbar last night and was quoted a price of 319 for the MK III. Was anyone else able to get one for 279? I suspect that the sales clerk made a pricing mistake for one lucky buyer. Incidentally, they only have 23,24,and 25 inch sizes left for the MK III.
217.3 | More of that $279 price | GRAMPS::BENOIT | Mon Mar 02 1987 09:04 | 9
The sales person told me that the $279 price was only for the 23" because they had so many. May be that thay do not have as many now. Incedently, they charge $30 freight, which paid for Federal Air Freight and it was at my house in 2 days. You may be able to specify a cheaper method. Another thing, it did not come with a pump. It was on the picture, but not on the spec. Also, they give you $10 allowance if your weels go 1/16" out of true within 10 days, and a bottle of touch-up paint. Also, it takes 1-2 hours to assemble, but it's a fine piece of machinery. |
