213.1 | On the LOOK out | DLO06::SMITH | Rode Warrior | Thu Feb 12 1987 10:52 | 11 |
| I have been using Look pedals for about 2000 miles now and have
nothing but high marks for them. The French have done this one up
right. My feet feel great after a 100 miler, and my hill climbing
technique has improved with them espcially since I started using
"Bernie" Hinault's "mud-scraping" techinique with them. I also
recommend the SIDI Revolution for use with the Look pedal.
Happy spinning...

213.2 | Look = the Best, so far. | EUCLID::PAULHUS | Chris @ MLO 8-3/T13 DTN 223-6871 | Thu Feb 12 1987 11:04 | 16 |
| I've been using them since August of '85. Other than some 0 mph
falls due to clumsyness in getting out of the quickly, I think
they are the ONLY way to go { look, or similar click-in system }.
In the new issue of Bicycling, the various systems are reviewed.
The Look has (for sport and ATB models) the lowest twist-out
torque rating. I set the torque on my Sport models at minimum and
wish I could make it lower. I just ordered a set of ATB's for my
other bike - they have a pre-set torque = Sport's minimum. Beware
that the competition model (the sleek black one) has a preset
torque = Sport's MAXIMUM. Try these suckers before you buy!
The Howell Cyclebinding system is VERY nice and a bit $$$y.
When I saw that their torque-to-get-out figures were higher than
what I'm useing now, I decided to stay with the Looks. - Chris
ps. My climbing has improved very much now that I can pull back
(you can't tighten straps on a recumbent's pedals)(H*ll, you
can't reach them!) - C

213.3 | why I don't like Looks | MELODY::DEHAHN | | Fri Feb 13 1987 07:18 | 13 |

The tension setting on the competition model wasn't *enough* for
me. When jumping on the pedals, my foot would twist around enough
to bother my knee. That was enough to convince me to take them back
to the shop.
A fresh set of Diadora cleats are almost as fast as the Looks and
they keep my feet where they belong.
That's one man's opinion,

213.4 | LOOKs are nice but pricey | AQUA::OCONNOR | | Fri Feb 13 1987 08:21 | 13 |

I've had a set or two of LOOKs for about a year now. As with some
people the first time I rode them I fell over, (what a dum feeling)
I also ripped the cleat screws out of my DUEGIs. When I got a pair
of shoes tapped for LOOKs I didn't have this problem. On the other
hand, I didn't make the mistake of trying to pull out of the pedals
like I had toeclips on. |-) BTW I think that LOOKs I especially
nice when its cold, I never get the cold toes I used to when I rode
with toeclips. As for quality, I think the quality is fine but
LOOK pedal aren't exactly cheap either.

213.5 | THE PRICE WON'T BE THAT BAD!? | GENRAL::SHROYER | | Mon Feb 16 1987 17:45 | 3 |
| SOUNDS PRETTY GOOD. THREE FOR LOOKS; ONE AGAINST. I AM GETTING
A DURA ACE GROUP AND COULD SWITCH OUT FOR THE LOOK PEDALS FOR ABOUT
$30. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

213.6 | All I can say is - wish I had thought of them! | KIRK::JOHNSON | Notes is an expert system | Mon Feb 16 1987 21:04 | 12 |
| The standard Look pedals are CHEAPER than Dura Ace, the
competition models are about $30 more.
I really want Look pedals, but I've refused to buy them
so far because they're so overpriced. I'm amazed that
no other ski binding company's stepped forward yet to
compete. If you compare the cost and complexity of the
Look pedals with that of comparable ski bindings, you'll
see just how much money that company must be making selling
them.

213.7 | LOOK a sale | MCIS2::DELORIEA | | Mon Sep 12 1988 11:56 | 9 |
| I just bought a set of LOOK Sport pedals and love them. I only
have fifty miles on them but I know I'll never go back to straps.
A few of the last replies mentioned the price being too much, well
I got them for half price! Sixty bucks brand new, thats 30 less
than NASHBAR sells them for. If your interested I got them at O'Neils
Moving sale. They did have others including Comps left as of Sat
