194.0. "RAAM '87 and related topics" by WEBSTR::FISHER () Wed Jan 07 1987 08:40
I will attempt to post summary information on RAAM '87 to this note as it comes
available. If folks are curious, I could add a few more details.
RAAM '87 IS SCHEDULED FOR Jun 20, 1987, San Francisco to Washington DC.
The list of participants is not yet complete. There is one more qualifier
to be held April 25th, 26th, ...
The approximate 87 route is: SF, Napa, Sacramento, Carson City, NV, rt 50 to Ely;
Delta UT, Provo, Rt 40 across CO, rt 36 to KC, MO; St L, Terre Haute,
Indianapolis, Columbus, Rt 50, Parkersburg, WV, Washington. Past and present
routes are available for $10.
Pete Penseyres will not compete this year, he will crew for his brother,
Jim.
ABC Wide World of sports is currently scheduled to air RAAM '86 on March 1.
Pete Penseyres and Lon Haldeman are planning to make a solo tandem men's
transcontinental record attempt in May 87. ("Solo tandem" refers to a ride
by two riders on a single, unpaced, undrafted tandem.) Current rules
require them to make all required traffic stops. Details not yet available.

194.1 | RAAM Winners? | EAGLE1::REILLY | Live Free Or Live In Massachusetts | Wed May 20 1987 13:56 | 9 |

Having biked across the country in '84, I'm very interested in the
RAAM (no,not in competing! Yikes!). I missed the telecast of the
'86 RAAM (arrgghhhh!), and did not hear who won. Would somebody
be able to tell me? Even better, does anybody have a list of all
the winnners for the (5,6,7???) years it has been going on?
Thank you in advance,
Sean
