| Our shop used to make and sell tire chains for bikes (front tire only). A
number of folks seemed to think they worked pretty well, I didn't try
them myself.....

Well, I hope the guy I saw last night had something like this.
Any one know who it was riding Rte #62 in Acton headed toward Concord
at about 7:15 last night ? I passed them (you ?) just after Anderson
Ford, just before the ditch that a car had slid into.

| I went out for a ride in Arlington at 9:30 last night, after
seeing a kid blasting across the snow on his BMX bike. I'm
glad I did - riding in 2" of snow is LOTS of fun on Tri-Cross
tires. Those little knobbies have a surprising amount of grip.
People who were out in the snow were amazed to see an otherwise
ordinary-looking ten speed (the tires and Spenco seat pad are
the only change I've made to my old Fuji S10-S) cruising down long
downhills on the snow-covered playground, fish-tailing corners on
a basketball court, and spinning up the sidewalk to the top again.
"I didn't know you could do that!" they said, and "Is that as
fun as it looks?"
It was pretty warm out, and the snow made it surprisingly bright
at night. I only wish I had a real mountain bike that I could
lay into the snow more aggressively. (Drop handlebars can get
to be kinda scary on downhills and sharp turns, when your weight
is so far forward.)
Moral of the story:
If you have a cheap bike sitting around that you don't know
what to do with, pop a pair of tri-cross tires on it.
It can be lots of fun!
