173.0. "Bike Repair Workshop" by LSMVAX::MILLER (Fidem Scit) Wed Nov 12 1986 15:44
Summer's over. I have brought my bikes in , and from the looks of the white
stuff out there, I'll have them in for the next few months.
Back in note 109, during the discussion of mailing bikes to yourself via
the local bus company in little boxes (bikes in the boxes, not bus companies),
I suggested that the DEC Bike Club sponsor a series of "Rejuvenate Your
Bike" workshops, led by the mechanical magicians in our midst. At the time,
I was told to wait till the summer was over.
Is it time yet? Can we do some workshops? What I want to do is to rebuild
BB's, headsets, clean and readjust derailleurs, brakes, and true wheels.
The idea would be to get somebody to donate the shop space (if I had some
I would *HAPPILY* donate it), somebody (else?) give instructions, and some
(limited) number of us get greasy screwing and unscrewing , wrenching and
ratcheting on our bikes.
Perhaps for those with an interest in one or another of the topics, we could
list in advance the "coming events".
Is it workable?
