This might not be the place to ask, but... In the 1985 RAAM, a Canadian rider (riding without any support vehicle) was hit by a U-haul truck. I never heard anymore about it. Just wondering of anyone out there knows who he is and, more important, how he is? Scott | |||||

The current Bicycle USA says, "from the waist down after being stricken by a hit and run driver in Eastern New Mexico." I have never seen a report of a "U-haul truck." There have been several fundraisers for Wayne Phillips. One was the Lon and Susan tandem cross country ride earlier this year. There was an article about Wayne a few months ago that reported of his good spirits in rehabilitations and his joy at being presented a new, lighter wheelchair. (He remarked that it would be faster too). ed |
