There is a fairly active speed skating group in the area. Several
rinks have speed skating nights.
There is also a fairly sizable group of bike racers who make this
their winter sport, so you will probably see people you recognize
there.
Two good people to contact are: Dick Ring (bike racing announcer,
bike coach and speed skater), Mike Powers (local CAT II rider, good
skater, all around nice guy). Chris Shelley, another good local
II is an active speed skater.
I don't know any of these phone numbers, but I may be able to get
them.
